James McCouchnie & Robin Tudge Penguin Group SA ISBN 978 1 85828 281 7 This is a very interesting and well put together book of conspiracy theories from the view point of the conspiracists and the rebuttles against them. It reads very humorously for the most part, and is intelligently written. The book's subject is often one that most would shuffle aside, but the format of the book is such that it allows for each of the viewpoints to be presented as truth - thus keeping the authors in total objectivity. The book goes through a wide variety of some of the world's most famous conspiracy theories (who killed JFK? is Elvis dead? who really was behind 9/11?) to some that seem quite absurd (the notion that the Titanic was actually swopped with another similar ocean liner was fun to read). It doesn't only cover theories, but also global corporations and elite agencies and organisations that, in some cases, have had a shady history, such as the CIA, FBI, Mafia, KGB, Freemasons and the Illuminati. Ultimately, this is a fun book that aims to educate and leave us with something to discuss at the watercooler.
